Job Description

If you would like to be considered for future engineering opportunities on highway, road, bridge, rail, and aviation projects in the greater Chicagoland/northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin areas, please complete this general application. 

Civil Engineers observe and inspect construction activities on road, highway, and/or bridge projects with IDOT, WisDOT, ISTHA, CDOT, CTA, Metra, and/or local county agencies.  They are responsible for initiating actions as required to keep construction progress in line with the overall project schedule and in conformance with the contract documents. 

Entry level duties are as follows.  Higher-level responsibilities will be assigned to experienced engineers.

Quality Management

  • Observes and inspects the activities of contractors on the construction site. 
  • Prepares field measurements and quantity calculations.
  • Reviews test results.
  • Reviews contracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Assists Resident Engineer/Construction Leader in the coordination of field activities.
  • Advises Resident Engineer/Construction Leader of any deficiencies or issues.

Schedule Management

  • Reviews contractor’s daily work schedule.
  • Compares activities to approved project schedule and alerts RE/CL of conflicts or delays.

Contract Administration

  • Prepares daily reports and other project documentation.
  • Assists in project closeout both internally and externally.
  • Reviews and processes project correspondence.




Skills/Requirements

We require a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.  IDOT, WisDOT, ISTHA, CDOT, CTA, or Metra, experience may be required depending on the project we are hiring for.  EIT preferred.  Professional Engineering (PE) license may be required.
