The Sales Engineer provides pre-sales and post-sales support to APCON customers with an emphasis in the Mid-Atlantic Region to include both Federal Government and Commercial accounts. This Sales Engineer position will be home office based in the Washington DC corridor. Pre-sales will include defining customer requirements, technical sales presentations, onsite product evaluations and competitive analysis. Post-sales will include onsite troubleshooting, customer support escalations, installation/configuration and training. Work with sales management to achieve company revenue and customer satisfaction goals. Provides constructive and concise customer input for product development.
Responsibilities:
Performs site surveys, analyzes customer network designs, and document requirements for APCON solutions.
Provides APCON network architecture solutions and recommendations in Microsoft Visio.
Assists APCON sales team as the technical subject matter expert for presentations, software demonstrations and webinars.
Provides pre-sales support for onsite product evaluations; including configuration, training, troubleshooting and daily product use.
Collaborates with sales management on account strategy. Highlights APCON advantages and influences technical decision makers regarding product selection.
Gathers competitive information and provides detailed analysis of APCON advantages for specific customer opportunities.
Provides technical responses for customer RFP/RFQs.
Provides post-sales customer support remotely and onsite.
Onsite troubleshooting and problem resolution for customer escalations.
Performs professional services offerings; including post-sales installation, configuration and training.
Documents customer reported bugs and feature requests in APCON’s internal systems.
Assists in writing white papers and case studies with marketing.
Qualifications
BS Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent is desired.
CCNA, CCDA or CCIE preferred.
LAN or IT infrastructure and design experience within a datacenter.
End to end network design and Ethernet switching experience within a datacenter.
Knowledge or large enterprise It infrastructures, management, monitoring and security.
Proven track record of 5 years experience as a Systems Engineer, Sales Engineer, Field Applications Engineer or similar role selling to Fortune 1000 companies a plus.
Experience working for equipment manufacturers in Switching/Routing, Network Analysis or Network Security is highly desired.
Experience working with network analyzers such as Anritsu, Wireshark, Fluke, IXIA.
50-70% overnight travel; predominately in the U.S. with emphasis in Mid-Atlantic Territory. May require some international travel on as needed basis.
Prior experience working with the Federal Government and Military is preferred.
Strong presentations skills, experience presenting to large groups of technical buyers and engineers.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project planning and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to take technicl information and communicate effectively to technical and non-technical personnel.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Excellent driving record and valid driver’s license.
