Job Description

Lighthouse Academies of Indianapolis is searching for a Substitute Food Service Worker for the 2009-2010 school year.  This position is a substitute position and will be contacted to work on an as-needed basis at any of the three Indianapolis school campuses.

The ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of a Food Service Worker are as follows:

 FOOD SERVICE

·  Prepare and serve food as directed by the Food Service Manager following all health, safety and food service codes and guidelines.
·  Utilize kitchen equipment for the preparation and service of food.
·  Serve food in an efficient and pleasant manner.
·  Clean kitchen and service area as required; assist with cleaning of eating area, as requested.
·  Operate PowerLunch and any other related point of sale system.
·  Completes daily tallies, reports, requisitions for food and kitchen supplies and signs invoice slips when Food Service Manager is unavailable.
·  Assist with inventory of food and supplies.
·  Assist with organizing and storing food and supplies.
·  Complete other tasks as may be assigned by the Food Service Manager.
·  Note: This position requires light to moderate lifting and long periods of standing.

Skills/Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
 
Experience, KNOWLEDGE & Skills:          
·  Prior experience working in an urban school food service setting
·    Knowledge of federal and state guidelines for free and reduced lunch system
·    Experience with a point of sale system, preferably PowerLunch
·    Safe-Serve Food Handler’s certification preferred
·    Excellent interpersonal skills to provide high quality customer service
·    Basic computer skills including Word (keyboarding), Excel and Outlook
·    Organizational and problem solving skills
·    Sense of humor
