Position Summary:
The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all point of care testing according to manufacturer's procedure, CLIA requirements, Joint Commission and CAP Accreditation standards.  The Point of Care Coordinator assures quality testing and accurate test performance through operator training, equipment monitoring, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control review and proficiency testing.





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of procedures, instruments in use, quality control measures and ability to use this knowledge in "trouble shooting" instruments and procedures.  Apply the requirements of JCAHO/CAP concerning decentralized testing (POCT).  Incumbent will use MS Office, Meditech, and other computer applications.  Sufficient sight (including color discrimination), manual dexterity and mobility to function effectively in exercising job responsibilities.  Works in hazardous and bio-hazardous areas of the lab and is subject to cuts and burns from chemicals and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution and have at least one year of lab training or experience in high complexity testing, or Qualify as Testing Personnel under CLIA guidelines and have at least three years of lab training and experience in high complexity testing.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required
: MT(ASCP) or equivalent, HEW (HHS), NCA, or other certification 
CLIA requirements met to allow moderate and high complexity testing
